Timex Sinclair Online User Group Meeting November 4, 2024

Date: November 4, 2024

Hugo Pinto shared his experience with the Load ZX Spectrum Museum’s recent recovery of the Tenet educational network system. He explained that the museum interviewed former Timex engineers and created a documentary video about Tenet.

Hugo demonstrated the functionality of the Tenet system. He showed how to send messages between computers, reset a student computer, load software, and save files onto the network. He also explained the limitations of the system, such as the maximum network size and the round trip polling method used for communication.

The team discussed the upcoming Pico update, with Ricardo working on new features and Ryan developing a menu system for the Pico. David mentioned that the Pico update will require a new manual due to the extensive improvements.

Stewart updated the group on an Arduinio shield that connects to the Timex/Sinclair 2040 printer. The board is available from his website, whattocallit.com.
