VCF Midwest 20 drew what was likely the largest gathering of Timex/Sinclair enthusiasts in many years. More than a dozen members of the Timex/Sinclair Online User Group exhibited together in a coordinated display, and the group met new members at the show.
What was exhibited
- Carl Miles — his recreated TS1510, the “1068” enhanced TS1000, and a Spectrum
- Jeff Burrell — the community’s re-imagined TS 2060 Bus Expansion Unit, with FPGA video modes and Raspberry Pi integration
- David Green — expansion devices, ROM cartridges, and 3D-printed replica cases
- Mark Martin — Sinclair QL variants, original and modern
- Tim Horner — a cross-translating keyboard adapter for the ZX81 and TS1000
- Jeff Fetta — a compact flash storage system and a recreation of the Zon-X sound board
- Ingo Schmied — the KiloZed, an enhanced ZX81/TS1000 with a full-sized keyboard
- David Anderson – Timex/Sinclair 1000, Timex/Sinclair 2068
- Greg Bennett – A demo of Chris Seivey’s song Camouflage synced to the ZX81 program
- Stewart Newfeld – books and other wares from Zebra Systems
Also at the show
Carl Miles gave a presentation on the history of Sinclair and Timex/Sinclair computers.
Evan Wright, a text adventure developer and former Sinclair user, visited the display. He had attended a summer camp covered in an issue of Timex Sinclair User and appears in one of the photographs.
