Recently, I was handed a few CP/M disks which had been converted for use by one of the QL’s CP/M emulators. The filenames on the disk were all preceded by a ‘8’/’CHR$ (127).’ Not all CP/Mulators, and few printers (or, individuals), can comprehend this character. The request which accompanied the public domain disks was to write а program which could strip the first character from the filenames.
