Letter with corrections to Extensions

Dear Rod,

I have a couple corrections to make to Extensions. The first deals with the routine that avoids printing directory files. If a customer has added Breakthrough, it will still print them so you need to correct issue one and four plus PRO/FILE PLUS 3 tape. The first issue just needs to tell customers who have Breakthrough added to make line 1020 read at the end:

GO TO 7203

It use to say 7205 in Breakthrough. The tape should of course be fixed as well. In issue #4 on the fourth page it says to change the end of line 1020 to be GO TO 7204. It should not be changed. Leave it as GO TO 7203.

I also found an error in the full-size printer routine for the Spectrum conversion. This is found near the end of issue #3 and PRO/FILE PLUS 3. It says to POKE 64197,84 and POKE 64198,31. This is wrong. It should be POKE 63688,84 and POKE 63689,31.

I finally got to test this with the interface you sent me and my new Silver’ Reed Colour PenGraph EB50. It’s a typewriter that uses pens for printing and can also connect to a computer. This letter is typed on it. It works in either Timex 2068 or Spectrum mode with Profile (with the proper changes). It does not work with microdrives. Apparently the changes to the rear port mess up the interface. I assume that an interface designed for those changes would be okay.

I have a Currah U-Slot, but it is not as wide as the 2068 rear slot so I can’t put it in first followed by my buss adapter. If I could I would think that I could plug in Timex stuff off one side and ‘the adapter followed by Spectrum stuff off the other.

Do you know of any such device? It seems to me that it would be a relatively simple hardware device, but be very useful.

Sincerely,
Robert C. Fischer
